I was introduced to Aromatherapy while attending esthetics school in the mid-1990s. It captured my attention and I knew immediately that I wanted to learn more about it. Throughout the next decade, I dabbled with essential oils, incorporating them into my life with the limited knowledge I had at that time. In 2006, I began learning more on my own and in 2008 I enrolled in the Aromatherapy Certification Program at Aromahead Institute, School of Essential Oil Studies in Sarasota, Florida. Completing this certification, I became a nationally certified Aromatherapist through NAHA (the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy) in March, 2009. I have also completed a teacher training course taught by Andrea Butje, an engaging and passionate educator, at Aromahead Institute.

It has been through my use of essential oils that I have come to the realization that we are surrounded by synthetic products filled with harmful chemicals that compromise our health. Just watch a TV commercial for an air freshener or a heavily-scented laundry detergent to see how these products are making their way into our lives every day without anyone really giving it much thought. It makes sense to use products derived from natural sources. As a first-time mother to twin girls, I am dedicated to surrounding them with only the most natural and health-supporting ingredients. I am also dedicated to providing others with helpful information on how to use aromatherapy safely with their children, for their own personal use, and in their households. To that end, I offer essential oil-based products that enhance physical and emotional well-being, and teach classes to promote the educated use of one of nature’s most beautiful gifts: essential oils.

Our Essential Oils and Ingredients

You will never have to question the safety of the Sweet & Woodsy Aromatherapy line of products. Imported from distillers around the world, we use only essential oils that come from organic, unsprayed, or wild-crafted plant material. All essential oils are GC/MS tested for purity. Other ingredients used are organic, all-natural, or unrefined; the containers used are either PET plastic or glass. Every product is hand-made and contains essential oils at a dilution safe for its intended use.

What is GC/MS testing?

GC/MS testing is the best way to know the purity of the oils you are using. “GC/MS” stands for Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry. This is a specific testing process of essential oils that allows us to know exactly which chemical compounds make up an essential oil and ensures the oil’s therapeutic properties. GC/MS testing also ensures the oil is not adulterated with pesticides or other harmful chemicals that could interfere with its proper therapeutic use.

I believe that using high quality ingredients combined with care and positive intention are what make Sweet & Woodsy products so wonderful. I hope you feel the same way!
